CPUseless

I recently fried my old USR v90 ISA modem, and I was looking for a cost effective (cheap) replacement. My mobo (FIC VA503A) has an AMR slot, which will accept a modem riser card. I can pick one up for about $20, including shipping. Does anyone know how well these perform? It uses some modem features that are built in to the mobo, so I am assuming it uses the system CPU for signal processing. Is there a large performance degradation due to this? Should I just bite the bullet and buy a good PCI modem? I'm so confused!!! http://discussions.hardwarecentral.com/confused.gif http://discussions.hardwarecentral.com/confused.gif http://discussions.hardwarecentral.com/confused.gif
