Hello - My desktop is simply using the built in Ethernet to connect to my cable modem.
I am purchasing this laptop -> http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?cs=04&oc=d800sb&m_11=XPPRO1&m_22=PROXPAD&m_1=D816U&c=us&l=en&kc=6W300
This laptop has the Intel® PRO/Wireless 2100 WLAN (802.11b,11Mbps) miniPCI Card.
All I want to do is run my desktop (via. Ethernet wire), and my laptop (via. Intel® PRO/Wireless 2100 WLAN (802.11b,11Mbps) miniPCI Card), to my cable modem.
On the page listed above, is the TrueMobile™ 1184 Wireless Broadband Router that they offer. Is this all I need?
I want to buy it all from them for warranty reasons. Thank you.
This laptop will be used for communication. Mounted to my wheelchair.

Yup that should do it, you'll have the wireless card in your laptop and then you will just have to connect the cable modem to the router, then connect your desktop to the router and then its just a matter of following the instructions to configure the router.
All the best,
Matt
P.S. When you get your new laptop with the Centrino, I would love to hear what your think of it, I'm considering getting one quite similar to your config.

Thanks Matt3d1 :)
Would you or someone know what it would take to control my desktop from a laptop, or the other way around?
If they are both on the same router, is it just a matter of software, or do they need a direct connection?

When you say control your desktop what do you mean, like actually take total control of it? I believe that Winxp Pro (not sure about home) will allow you to control another compter for maintenance etc. but it should do the trick.

I am not sure what you mean by take control but I assume that you are talking about the security of your home network. There is an excellent thread on this subject with the subject line "WIFI Secure." I would read this one as well as do a search in the network forum using "secure" or "security" as your search subject. You should be able to find answers to most of your questions. From what I have read the easiest and most basic thing to do is to make sure that you change all default passwords and IP addresses after you get your network up and running.

If they're both XP Pro, you can remote control one from the other using the OS.
If they're not, you can get some software that can do it such as PCAnywhere or RemoteControlIT.

Ah, now I see what the question was. Well let's just say I was offering some friendly advice on another topic that actually can be pretty important - wireless network security.
