Okay, a few weeks ago I went out and helped my dad buy a printer for his small business. All I was really told was it need to be a HP so we got a Deskjet 5150. A couple of days later I hooked it up and it works fine. Well, I forgot one thing and that was the one program he needs to use this for is dos based and the printer is USB only.

So, I figured had 2 options either HP had a driver that would fix my problem or I needed to find a USB converter cable. I looked at HPs site and it had nothing there it also said the printer was only for 98 up and did not support dos. I told my pa that he needed to find a converter cable, and so he went to town to look for one.

I told him to try Radio Shack, but they told him that they knew what he was looking for and was sure that CompUSA had it. He called up CompUSA, and told him the samething but said Radio Shack had the cable. He of course told them that Radio Shack had told him to come theirs. So, they told him they were sure it was sold online. I've been looking and the only thing I've seen is the exact opposite of what I am looking for. So, I'm thinking that this cable does not exist or I just have not been looking in the right place. So, does it exist? and where can I find it.

It seems all I can find is adapters to use your parallel port printer with your USB port. I will keep looking around but it doesn't look good.

Have you looked into DOS drivers for USB?

Yeah, I looked for drivers, but there are no offical drivers for dos and hp pretty much says this printer isn't compatable with dos. The only thing I can think of is if there are some unoffical drivers somewhere out there on the net. I've seen the same cords everywhere too. I don't think they actually make one it looks like we may have to go find another printer that has a parallel port.

I just read something that may help and I'm going to try it out sometime tomorrow or later today.

Yeah, that works finally getting stuff to print, thanks Wrathchild. I'm having problems with getting rid of all the extra letters, and yeah I have messed around with the sequence setting. The program is meant for a HP printer, but I still get the extra letters even on the HP setting. I think I can figure it out, and I think they could pass for what he wants to do.
