that is a pretty old hdd (4gb). are you adding this for additional storage or just to remove data?
j50 is the jumper closest to the ide cable. with jumper, your hdd is set as master and without it is set as slave. i have better luck when adding hdd to dell boxes using the cable select setting.
if things works right, it is pretty simple to add a hdd. set the master hdd as master (double check to see if the master device have a seperate master single and master with slave). set the slave device as slave. you can also set both devices as cable select, then the master device is the one on the end of the ide cable. then connects both hdd to the ide cable and molex connector, go into bios setup and make sure that both hdd are detected correctly and boot into windows. windows should automatically pick up the new hdd.

in that case, just disconnects the secondary ide cable from whatever it is connected to right now and connect the old hdd to the secondary ide cable (this way you won't have to play around with the jumpers). reboot, and windows should see the hdd. if the hdd don't show up in windows, you will have to go into bios setup and see if you can detect the hdd. after you transfer the data, just put your pc back the way that it was and you are done.
