NewEgg is completely out of stock. Local retailer had two and I bought one. Now all gone. Fry's has none in stock. Micro Center has none in stock. Fry's salesman was actually inteligent enough to tell me that it was a paper launch!
Too bad. Was going to order onoe from NewEgg but not today. :(

What about this one (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814121006)?

Technically, it's not a paper launch if the product was available somewhere at sometime. Smaller chains might feel that way if they never received any initial products, but places like newegg don't feel the same way. Not to say that this excuses what nVidia, ATI, Intel, AMD, MS, Apple, etc do. It's still somewhat better than paper or vapor launches, but just slightly so. I guess if you want to be realistic, you can't expect to see volume shipments at launch, since we all know how "now" is far better than later in the tech sector. ;) The real test is to see how long it takes for new stock to arrive.

They're pretty thin on the ground now but were available in quantity when the product was launched. You can still find them in the UK and Europe quite easily.

Talking about rarities i fixed a 1.3Ghz PIV Emachine rig yesterday and a 2800+ 2.25Ghz Socket A Athlon XP rig last week, first time for the 1.3 and only 3rd 2800+ i've seen.

I have never seen a P4 1.3 GHz CPU personally.

Bet they were really speedy. ROFL :D

Heh coupled with 128Mb worth of RIMMs, 40GB Seagate slowpoke budget (remember the ones with the rubberlike matting, U series or something?) and some AGP card i think an Ati Rage would stomp, the machine was a true speed demon :D

I know I am probably not suppose to ask this question here, but I figure why not...

Anyone have any idea what I might be able to get for matching XFX 6800GT's, PCI-E, which have been running together since day 1?

I'm banking on that overclockability. I'll probably be picking a 7900GT up this weekend as a tradeup at CompUSA for an old vid card. Would you happen to know if the Arctic Cooling Silencer nv5 is compatible with the 7900GT?

Thanks for the info. So net, I won't be paying to much for two cards...

About the nv5, off the top of my head I would say that it would probably be compatible with the 7900 series, mainly because the heat produced is similar to the 7800 series of cards. After looking at Arctic's site however, there is no mention of coolers for the 7900 series. Maybe they just haven't updated their supported GPU list. It's a good question though, as I may try an aftermarket cooler this time around.

Wouldn't like to say, TBH. The board design is similar to the 7800GT reference PCB but AC seem a bit guarded about supporting it officially it on their site. You might be able to figure it out from the diagrams they provide.

Local store got three Asus models in yesterday. I bought one and another one was on the way out. Supply is very limited out here.

A little tip from the B3D thread (http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/showthread.php?p=731263#post731263) about this - someone noticed that the power MOSFETs were getting very hot on an overvolted 7900GT. This probably limits overclocking; the GTX actually has a heatsink on its power circuitry (albeit on a different PCB design altogether), so that might something worth bearing in mind.
