Long stort short...I'm getting new HDD and I want to copy the data from a HDD already installed. Drives in question are SATA and neither contain an OS
I realize I could just C&P files however, there is a problem. The one program folder I need to copy is is over 25 gigs and it is imperitive that I keep it intact. What is the size limit in XP to C&P a folder?

i don't know of any limitation as long as the file system supports the file size (no issue with ntfs, 2gb with fat32). it just going to take a long time.
you can try using the manufacturer's cloning utility to clone the old hdd to the new hdd. this should be quicker than to copy thru winxp.

Yeah, you're probably right.
I'll DL the apropriate WD disk utility program.
I don't presently have any such utilities on hand as I pruchase all MY HDDs as OEM.

AFAIK there are limitations to the lengths of file/folder names, and also the length of the file path (i.e. number of subfolder levels e.g.
c:\folder1\folder2\folder3\folder4\folder5\folder6\folder7\folder8\folder9\folder10.... etc)
but there shouldn't be any limit to the size of the data, as long as there is sufficient disk space on the destination disk.
