An Epson Stylus color 400 that stops half way through a print job. Self test is ok.
I've re-installed the printer drivers.
Any ideas?

Make sure it goes thorugh entire dir. IF NOT check bios should be ECP/EPP (I think) if not try those or BI-Directional for parallel port mode. IF DOSE check your lpt ver on your lpt.vxd, it should be 4.00.955 (I think .955 im sure) if not microsofts site has updated lpt.vxd driver. OR TRY -DIFF CABLE? -DOC TOO BIG? -CHANGE THE DATA TYPE FROM EMF (i THINK) TO RAW DATA (SHOULD BE IN PRINTER DRIVER PROPERTIES--> PORT SETTINGS ) IF IN WARRANTY CONTACT EPSON FOR ISSUES HOPE SOMETHING HELPS jlmsystek April 20th, 2001, 04:24 PM hey i have the same exact thing going on....are you running win98? is yours a usb printer? i have emailed epson and they are not much help.... chef April 21st, 2001, 01:56 AM epson 400 -should NOT be using ECP (spp, standard or bi-directional) -cable length should not be more than 6" -dos test will not work ->this uses an ESC/P raster chip, it has no instructions for ESC/P2, which is required for DOS printing. -raw format is correct -check lpt.vxd -uncheck both boxes in spool settings (details tab in the driver) -try printing directly to printer - in port settings, details tab of driver.... -make sure you have the correct driver!! ------------------ a little spit, a little force e=mc2 April 25th, 2001, 08:59 PM chef you have nail it on the target. not much else I can say here. hardwarecentral.com
