How can I make or get a Win 95 setup boot disk that will recognize my new CD-Rom. I just installed a 36X NewCom.
I format my hard-drive every couple of months and I dont feel like reinstalling my old CD-Rom so I can use the boot disk that came with it to load back in Win 95.

if they are both ide cd roms then I think that the disk you have will work for either one.

They are both ide CD-Roms. When I boot up with the boot disk the first screen it comes to gives me a choice of Funai (which is what my old CD-Rom is) or Goldstar. After I enter Funai it gives a choice of 8,12,16, or 24X. Then it must load the drivers for the CD-Rom and continues to the Win 95 welcome screen.
I tried to use this disk for my new CD-Rom, but it doesnt want to work. I also tried to use a boot disk that I borrowed and it wants to load drivers for a Toshiba CD-Rom and wont work either.

Hi, kingteddy. Welcome to HWC.
You may get a better response if you start your own thread, rather than tagging onto one that is seven years old.
It sounds like your boot disk may not have CD-ROM support. Assuming that the drivers for your CD-ROM are basically generic, getting one that does may get you going again.
See if this link helps. What operating system are you trying to load?

I have a Toshiba 110CS that I had to install Win 95 to years ago. It has no cd drive of course. Installed by copying the Win 95 install cd to a 100Mb Zip drive, which you can now buy at yard sales for $5, and booted with a floppy that had the Iomega Guest utility on it and used that to boot the Zip drive.
Another way to do it is to buy a 2.5" (notebook) to 3.5" (desktop) IDE adapter for less than $10 and connect it to a desktop as a slave. Then copy the install disk to the notebook drive, put it back in the notebook, boot with the floppy, switch from the A: prompt to the C: prompt and install.
Once you've booted, at the A:> prompt type: C: and hit <Enter>. Then at the C:> prompt type: setup and hit <Enter>. You can display the files on the disk to find the correct command by typing: dir /p to list all the files and look for setup.exe. The /p pauses the display when there are more than one page. Otherwise it rushes past.

DanceMan's earlier suggestion about copying the Win95 disk to the laptop hard drive sounds like it may be best for what you are facing. You will need an adaptor to enable you to hook up the laptop hard drive as a slave to your desktop. Here is a link to what that looks like-

You can get bootdisks at bootdisk.com. Most of them will be images that when run will write to a floppy.

Have you tried a regular Win 98 or 98SE boot disk? It has 4 different cdrom drivers and checks through them.
