I have a compaq presario 4122. I'm upgrading it to an AMD K6-350 with a FIC PA-2013 Super-7 100 Mhz ATX Motherboard. I'm trying to use my current 33.6 winmodem & Compaq is telling me that this modem is only good on their motherboards. Can anyone tell me if I can use this modem or get drivers for it so I can use, I'd appreciate it.

the drivers for that modem should be in the wondows\inf directory on your hd. the normal winmodem drivers won't work. it has info stored on the chip that makes it just enough different. have you looked at the downloadable drivers on the compaq site?
on my pc the drivers for the usr modem are listed as 3com inf files.

Thanks for the information & address for the Compaq winmodem drivers. I've downloaded everything & I'll have to try with the new motherboard.
