Every now and then my modem will pick up the phone line due to a program, but if it does not connect it sometimes will not hang up. In order to disconnect it I have to restart my computer which is a pain.

I have read that you can use something in Terminal Mode that allows you to reset the modem. I do not know what that is or how to access it.

By the way, I have an old US Robotics Sportster 28.8 Internal Modem and I checked on the 3 COM site but did not find anything there that was usefull.

Thanks for any help,

Make sure that you have the latest drivers and try using AT commands if you haven't already.

In terminal mode, hit your "+" key three times to get your modem to respond "OK".

Then type:

ATH0

to hang up the phone (that's A - T - H - 0 (zero, not the letter O)
