I recently reformatted by 8.4 GB HD.
Now I can't remember how to partition it so that I only have 1 HD appear in Win95 instead of 4 other logical drives.
Thanks in advance.

First, you have to have Windows 95 OSR2. Use the boot diskette for W95. Then type FDISK at the prompt. Windows 95 then should display a message, asking you if you wish to enable large disk support (which is FAT32). Answer yes. Create your one large partition (using the FDISK screens). When finished, it will reboot your system. Keep your diskette in the floppy drive. When is boots again and you get to the A:\ prompt, type FORMAT C:

I tried what you said, but I am still having problems. When I go into fdisk, it does not ask me if I want to use FAT32. The only thing it lets me do is create a 2 GB partition and 3x 2GB logical drives.
I know I have the correct version of Win95 because it worked when I put my computer together.
Someone please help!

Do you see Windows 98 in the near future? It supports large capacity drives easier.

This wouldn't happen to be a Maxtor would it? If so, especially if you have an older type motherboard, you have to download special drivers from their website and set the jumpers correctly.

it pretty much SHOULD say "this version of windows supports large disk support...... y/n?" if it doesnt you might want to make sure your fdisking with whats on your restore software and not on the hd (in case fdisk, or io.sys/msdos.sys/command.com are older versions, if your running windows 95 the only way your going to get the FAT32 is if your ver of windows is OSR2 which as far as i know was only supplied by OEM's which means you would have to buy it from a computer manufactuer (i.e compaq, pb.. etc.)...
hope some of this helps
