hp laptops shutdown for no reason

my friend has a hp laptop, it has windows me, and its pretty new.. it does this weird thing where it turns off completely all of the sudden anybody expierence that with hp laptops??

Can you give exact detail.. Does it shut down after being left for a while, or during normal operation??

does it shutdown or go into standby? seems to be the power saving kicking in.
