how to make using password when start windows 98 like windows nt ? user must enter password to use windows in start up !

Rigth click on Network Neighbourhood and select proporties. Select "client for Microsoft networks" under primary network logon. that should do the trick.

as far as I know, the user can still just hit Cancel and get into your machine/WIN98. They won't have access to your network contents though, since they didn't log onto the LAN.

rh71 is right. Win9x has next to none as far as user security goes. Try this (http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10105-100-1575108.html?tag=st.dl.10000_103_1.lst.td). I installed that on a couple of Win9x machines and it works pretty good.

al -

any bad experiences with that program? I have 3 win95 machines attached to my network and have never liked the fact that they can't get to the network, but they can still ruin the machines. I've never thought to look for shareware/freeware to help, but I would if it helps!
