In Win98 SE there was an option under Folder Options that would give me the option to disallow all CAPS (make all filenames proper-case). Does anyone know if this option is available in Win ME and if so, where can I find it? Thank you.

Did you ever find out the solution to this problem? I just copied thousands of files to my new Windows Me computer and they are in ALL CAPS. This is so annoying!

Run regedit, then browse in the left pane to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced. If there's a value called DontPrettyPath in the right pane then double-click on it and set it to 0. If not, right-click in the right pane and create a new DWORD Value. Call it DontPrettyPath and set it to 0.

No, I never found a solution to this. Also, I tried your solution Tuttle and the "Dontprettypath" was there & it was already valued at "0".

Thx anyways...

Try getting the latest version of TweakUI (http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp) and using that. I don't know if it shows up in ME, but in 98 there's an option in the TweakUI Explorer tab to adjust the case of some filenames, and it's changing a different registry setting to the one I described.

I checked Tweak UI and the option is not there. I've done some research on this and there is no solution to this problem other than to run a case switching program. I found one called Change Case and it works fairly well, but all my mixed case files are now lower case.
