I am installing win2k pro on a machine and it keeps displaying an error message.

"DISK I/O ERROR: STATUS 00008000"

the install is continuing but taking forever (only a 233) any ideas what might be causing this? The wires appear to be correct.

Primary: Quantum Fireball Master
Secondary: CDROM Master
PII 233
128 mbs ram
generic video card

The drive is good, it will boot fine into win95, I then tried blowing away my harddrive partiions just in case.

(yes its slow but only being used as a test server, or is it too slow?)

If you can, try copying the Win2k disc on your hard drive and installing it from there.

Do you have a zip drive in your system? That same message came up for a friend of mine at school

I also replaced the cd.

Now that's over with, I'm closing this ancient thread and may it rest in peace
