How do I stop MS Messenger from starting at startup? I've deactivated it using Startman, I've also gone into MSCONFIG and disabled it, but it just keeps reappearing when i restart. I don't use it, and i know it doesnt take many resources, but its annoying as hell to me.

For me, in Windows 98 and Windows 2000, I goto the Tools menu in MSN Messenger, then select Options, and in the Preferences window then I untick the box that says 'Run this program when Windows starts'.

How you do it might be different, as MSN Messenger is supposed to be more integrated into Windows XP, but my way works fine for me.

Hope I helped http://discussions.hardwarecentral.com/smile.gif

I had the same problem...when I finally got rid of it, I noticed that it started with OE. I couldn't get it to quit, so I deleted it from my system.

Uh, did you try disableing the option in MSN Messenger? Go to Tools/Options/Preferences. Otherwise, you can't disable it.
