I have a mistifying problem with a new flat screen. When the PC is set to the screens native resolution (1920 x 1080) it displays a squashed picture with about 2" of blank screen on each side of the image. Lesser resolutions do cover the whole screen area.
The screen is a " 23" Arianet Full HD Widescreen Monitor,1920 x 1080, DVI, 5ms response, 1000:1 contrast".
I have tried this monitor on three separate PCs in the house all with the same result. The graphics on the three machines are all nvidia, a GeForce6200 Turbo on an XP machine, GForce 6150 intergrated on a win 2000Pro machine and GeForce 2GTS again a win 2000Pro machine.
I have tried the auto tune button.
There is no hrizontal or vertical size adjustment on the screens own menus.
The screen has been returned and tech services say it works fine!
I have used the Nvidia Control Panel to change the resolution to 1920 x 1080, it was available. I was running it at 60Hz. The monitor's on screen menu was indicating that it was receiving a 1920 x 1080 signal but still the distorted display, I'm confused
The Driver is Nvidia 6.14.10.9424 from the file
94.24_forceware_winxp_english_whql.exe
downloaded two days ago as the most recent driver available, i hope?
the machine i really want to get going is the GForce 6150 intergrated on a win 2000Pro. I downloaded the driver:4.24_forceware_winxp_english_whql.exe from the Nvidia site as the latest available for win 2000. I have to admit that i just plugged it into the XP machine changed the resolution, looked , and cursed again!
are you able to change the refresh rate?? 72 or 75 mHz
maybe u'll need to upgrade the video card... as some intergrated cards are not able to put out that type of resolution to power that much real estate as a 23" monitor.
am i right in guessing that just because a particular resolution is in the invidia control pannel doesn't mean its available i actual reality or may be wonky.
This is the second time ive tried to buy a flat screen and run into problems any suggestions on how to get a 22-23 inch setup with no compatability issues?
Ive returned this screen while i regroup a give it some more thought
You can force non standard resolutions in the nvidia control panel. Maximum supported resolution is 1920 x 1440 pixels (@75 Hz) for RGB display and 1600 x 1200 pixels (@65 Hz) for DVI-D display Means you should be able to do every thing up to that resolution.
Windows 2000 might have issues with the DVI vs VGA plug out to the monitor. Is there any bios settings related to Video that would affect the output of the card? Shadow Memory of things like that?
Carry the box to Best Buy and ask the geek squad to see if their 23" monitor would show full screen. Then buy a Samsung.
