Crysis Demo Coming Soon

Pasted from the Crysis website. I can't wait to see if it'll play on my machine decently!

(posted Aug. 27, 2007)
"The Countdown to Crysis Continues: Single Player Demo - 9.25.07

PC gamers now have a reason to mark a big circle around September 25th on their calendars as the single player demo for Crysis will be lighting up rigs worldwide in just 30 days."

I am slightly obsessive about Crysis, really can't wait for this demo.

There should still be an MP public beta too (through fileplanet), but as MP won't look quite as nice, it's this SP demo I'm looking forward too.

Crytek also said there will be a 'huge surprise' in the demo. There's plenty of speculation about what this might be in the fansite forums on incrysis, crysissector and crysis-online, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see

Date has been noted on the calender... I guess I have to fill the time by playing Madden 08 and the World in Conflict demo (which by the way is pretty good).

I really can't wait for this game... the previews have looked absolutely fantastic so far...

I played all the way through the demo, (it's quite short), don't even remember that bit though. What didn't you like about it, out of interest, too violent do you mean?

basically, it comes down to me being a bit of a wuss. I got the feeling it was gonna turn into a Resident Evil type game, and I was never a huge fan of those... maybe i'll have to try it again...

ah fair enough, although not classed as a horror, I think it is quite scary in parts! Very atmospheric though

yep it was only announced a few days ago too. It is frustrating as I'm not really into the beta, as it's DX9 only and I'm just not a big MP fan.

But if the demo and final game are better for this then I respect Crytek's decision. It's only another few weeks to wait, and it gives me time to finish Bioshock anyway

My current card isn't DX10 capable and I'm just not completely sold on Vista yet, not until they come out with a Service Pack at least.
I have to admit that the effects in DX10 look awesome but with the right card and graphics engine DX9 still looks really good.

Fair comment, but there are already plenty of updates and hotfixes for Vista which sort out the performance issues. SP1 really isn't going to make a huge difference in terms of gaming performance or stability, that's not what it's primarily targeted at.

There will be some performance improvements in SP1, but most will be updates which are already available now.

You can read about what SP1 will and won't include here.
