Video Capture?

I have a HI-8 camcorder, and would like to convert my movies to digital movies and burn them to disc. It has a "S" video out and also triple RCA outs (red, white, yellow). What kind of capture card would you recommend?

Pinnacle create a number of great quality video capture cards. The Pinnacle DV500 Plus (about $600) is a superb one, comparible to the highend professional cards such as the Matrox RT2500 (about $900) but somewhat cheaper.

The other option, which are often cheaper, is that you go for the cheaper all-in-one style cards. There are a number of these available, ranging from the Matrox Marvel G450 eTV, or ATi All-in-Wonder Radeon to the more common place Asus AGP-V8200 GeForce3 Deluxe or the cheaper Asus AGP-V7100 Deluxe Combo.

There's a lot of good choices

However, out of those, I'd personally go for the Pinnacle DV500 Plus (if I could afford it), or the cheaper Matrox Marvel G450 eTV.

WOW! I must say. I thought they'd be cheaper. I thought DAZZLE made one for around $50 or so... I'm not going to produce these movies for profit, just my home movie stuff. I was hoping someone would give me an option as inexpensive as that.

Yeah, they can be pretty pricey. No doubt there's a lot of cheaper options, but the ones I listed are the ones I've read up about and so on.

I believe Leadtek provide a few all-in-one cards, similar to the Asus ones I listed, but no doubt cheaper.
