sleeping or dieing?

I have a Duron 750 system on the epox KL-133m system board that i picked up from a friend. The stupid machine will seemingly go into a "standby mode" (i don't really know if it is stand byt but it looks and actls like it) after running for a few minuites. I have disabled all power save options so it shoud allways run, i even set screensaver to "none". When id does this "standby" deal the power switches and keyboard all become non responsive. If i unplug the machin and plug it back in it will give me one beep and then go right back to the "sleep mode" The only remedy so far has been to disconnect the power for about an hour and then reboot, at which point i get the scandisk error and then i boots into windows 98. I have all the latest drivers, all the win98 updates, and all power save optins are off. The CPU is running at about 100 degree's and the only red flag i see is that the core voltage is set to 1.6V instead of 1.75 but i have no way of changeing that in the bios. Any help is apreciated, Hey maybe i will donate it to the guy who wants to destroy PC's.

Try getting the latest motherboard drivers or latest bios update or turn off power management in bios.

Duct tape it.....

Not really, umm... is your motherboard atx or at power supplied? If it is at, then the psu may be bad.
If it is atx, then it may be the motherboard.

I do hope that your cpu is running at 100 degrees FARENHEIT, and not celcius.

One sure fire way to check to see what is wrong is to locate a freind that has a computer you can swap parts out with. It's tedious, but works every time.
