I was curious as to whether anyone else has been having this issue. I've found that just having this new version of Morpheus loaded will cause a constant bombardment of "blocked attacks". The attacks originate from any number of IP's, rarely from the same IP twice.
All attacks are targeting the port Morpheus is set to use (6346). I am assuming it not an intentional attack, rather Morpheus just being noisy so to speak.
i've just installed morpheus pe [download from here if you've not already got it]. i have had a few blocked attacks from ZA . i wouldn't call it constant but it is steady.
i'll keep an eye on it and se how bad it gets

Well I'm up over 1,000 blocked attacks now (I was away from the computer for a while). It's also recorded that it've uploaded over 26Mb (for the 10 hours I've been online) and I haven't actively uploaded anything.
Hmm... doesn't sound good at all. Not in the slightest. I'm going to log off now, do a thorough security check of my system.

Yeah the new edition of Morpheus is not good at all. I ended up just downloading Kazaa, which is almost exactly the same way the old morpheus was. I'd recommend that to you guys too.
My very thorough virus check (under DOS just to be absolutely certain) came up clean. I guess it's just a bug in the new Morpheus, or maybe someone was attempting a DoS (Denial of Service) attack on me. Didn't seem to effective if it was. Lucky for the dynamic IP
I'd have to agree, this new version is very clunky. I uninstalled the older version first and that didn't cause any problems here. I was able to search and found many of the things I was looking for (rare songs), so no complaints there.
I would hope however, that this rushed to release version intentinally lacks features because of that, and a more functional version is soon to be provided.

Bink was right.

First, early this week MusicCity's servers were hit by a massive Denial of Service attack. Soon thereafter, Morpheus users found that a separate attack had been launched on their computers and their Morpheus software programs...It appears that the attacks included an encrypted message being repeatedly sent directly to your computers that changed registry settings in your computer. Later, it appears our ad servers were attacked resulting in messages being sent to other sites without our knowledge, which threatened our most basic revenue model. We believe some of these attacks continue as Morpheus users attempt to connect to the old Morpheus User Network. This was why it is important to quickly deploy our new software product.
