Hi!
I own a K6-2 400 MHz and want to upgrade my video card from a Voodoo2 12MB.
I cant decide between the V3 2k and a TNT 2 M64. I have to tell you that I just have a 15" monitor (max. res. at acceptable refresh rate: 1024*768) and dont really need 32 bit color depth. I just want to be able to play at 1024*768 with acceptable speed. Now how much difference will be between the TNT2 M64 and the V3 2k? Is it true that the TNT 2 M64 is slower than the original TNT (1) cards? I cant imagine that...I would really be happy with the image quality of the M64 and i dont want to upgrade to SLI, because there arent any V2 cards buyable anymore and i dont like the dithering of the v2 and the stripes you can see when i.e. you get hurt in quake 2 and some other games. the M64 is a lot cheaper in the stores of my area and i think it cant be much slower than the V3 2k with my processor...bye the i dont believe anymore in the 3dfx for amd - Nvidia for intel thing, the test at www.tomshardware.com shows that the difference is very very small if you are using actual drivers, and the d3d is faster with the TNTs. Please dont tell me to buy a new motherboard and processor, because i really dont have the money and just want a cheap card for 1024*768 @ 16 bit.
Hi
I also have a k6-2 400 Mhz processor. And I have tried both the TNT2 and Voodoo3 3000 on my computer just to see the difference and I kept the voodoo3. The TNT2 was the Asus TNT2 Ultra but this card was actually slower than the voodoo3. If you don't care about color go for the voodoo3 2k or 3k it gives you good performance and low price.

I have a K6-2 450 and a Voodoo3 2000. Runs great. I am also building a system for a friend with a K6-2 450 and a Velocity 100 (Its a Voodoo3 2000 with only 8MB SGRAM). I'll tell you how it performs. The Velocity only costs about $55 and should perform well if you restrict the resolution to 1024x768 or less. Check out anandtech.com for his review of the Velocity 100 (and the Voodoo3, TNT2, TNT2 M64, GeForce 256, G400...).

todd a: in my area the tnt2 m64 by creative labs costs the some as you mentioned for the velocity 100...
ive checked out the review at www.anandtech.com and it shows that the m64 is faster at a k62 450 in d3d...so that i get more speed and better performance...and most of the new games are written for d3d and the future games will only come for d3d
dont you think it will be better to go with the m64 (and keep the v2 for older glide games)?
